(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) Dhaka: The national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines has received its 4th and last Boeing 787 Dreamliner named Rajhangsha on September 14. The brand new Dreamliner landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 4:40 pm where it was welcomed with a water canon salute.
Captain Farhat Hasan Jamil, Acting Managing Director and CEO and Vinie Sood, Chief Financial Officer from Biman Bangladesh Airlines received the aircraft at the airport among other high officials.
The brand new Dreamliner flew for 15 hours nonstop from Seattle and landed in Dhaka. This latest addition has taken the number of aircraft in Biman's fleet to 16.
Earlier, a team of representatives led by Air Marshal (retd) Muhammad Enamul Bari, Chairman of Biman went to Seattle at Boeing's Everett Delivery Operations Center to receive the 4th Dreamliner.
Biman signed a contract with the American aircraft manufacturing company Boeing back in 2008 to purchase 10 new aircraft. Already 4 Boeing 777-300 ER, 2 Boeing 737-800 and 3 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft have been inducted to Biman's fleet.
With the arrival of the 4th and last Dreamliner, Biman currently has four Dreamliners in its fleet.
All the Dreamliners Akashbina, Hangshabalaka, Gaangchil and Rajhangsha have been named by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina herself.
Rajhangsha has 271 seat capacity, 24 in Business Class and 247 in Economy. The Business Class seats features 180 degree reclined facility and fully flatbeds.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is said to induct Rajhangsha to Biman's fleet on September 17 at 4:00 pm.
