UAE Parliamentary Division participates in 26th AIPU meeting


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) AMMAN, 19th September, 2019 (WAM) -- The Federal National Council, FNC, Parliamentary Division, participated in the 26th session of the Arab Inter-parliamentary Union,AIPU, Executive Committee, which was held in Amman, Jordan, from 14th to 19th September.

Many topics were discussed during the session, including terrorism and issues related to women and children, in the presence of Atef Al Tarawneh, President of the Arab Parliamentary Union and President of the Jordanian Parliament, and Fayez Al Shawabkeh, Secretary-General of the Union.

During the session, the Arab Parliamentary Union condemned the recent attacks on Saudi Arabia, stressing its support for all the actions taken by the country to protect its sovereignty and stability.

The division, which comprised Ahmed Yousef Al Nuaimi, Ahmed Mohammed Al Hammoudi and Khalfan Abdullah bin Youkhah, presented its remarks on the union's 2020 budget and work programme while praising the overall efforts of the union and its general secretariat.

It also stressed that it is important for the union's members to pay their financial contributions, which affect the implementation of its strategic plans, agendas, activities and programmes while highlighting the importance of electronic transformation to publishing "The Parliament" magazine.

The division also presented its suggestions on pilot projects related to terrorism, women and children.

During his speech at the session, which was attended by 17 Arab parliamentary divisions, Al Tarawneh stressed the importance of implementing a recommendation issued at the union's latest session regarding its refusal to normalise its relations with Israel.
