UAE- Cisco completes network deployment across Expo's Thematic Districts

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Cisco has announced the completion of its network deployment across all three of Expo 2020 Dubai's Thematic Districts, which will enable visitors, exhibitors, and organisers across the site to securely and seamlessly connect on any wireless device.

Cisco's intent-based network forms the backbone of Expo 2020's technological infrastructure. Consolidating operations into a single IP network, the intent-based network provides an infrastructure which constantly learns, adapts and protects, making it the ideal foundation for the Expo 2020 digital experience. Providing Expo's back-office operations and visitors with a seamless network experience, Cisco's Software-Defined Access (SD-Access) - the industry's first intent-based networking solution for the enterprise - will host around 8,000 Wi-Fi access points, serving up to 300,000 users per day during Expo 2020 as well as supporting over 400 end points in IoT systems such as building management, irrigation, and lighting control.

Speaking during a recent event to mark the technological milestone, Mohammed Alhashmi, chief technology officer at Expo 2020 Dubai, said: "Since the event was announced in 2013, we have been working hard to deliver a truly exciting and one of a kind expo; to do this, we have had to sign up with the best technology companies in the world. On October 20, 2020, we will open our doors to welcome the world. We want to amaze millions of visitors with an incredible experience made possible by cutting-edge technology enabled by our partners. What we are really excited to have worked on with Cisco is the 'Office of the Future' web app that will assist employees at the Expo 2020 site to manage, locate, and book meeting rooms."

Alhashmi also noted that the web app would be a very helpful guide for people of determination to find the best way for them to move around the site. "It will help them to quickly locate all the elevators that will take them where they need to be. It can also be used by visitors to schedule meetings with officials that they are interested in speaking with."

Shukri Eid, managing director, Cisco Gulf Region, also shed more light on the Office of the Future proof of concept, and how it is just one of the many elements that will go into ensuring that the Expo 2020 Dubai will be the most technologically advanced Expo in the history of the global fairs.

When scheduling a meeting through the web app, employees can include WebEx Conference, allowing remote participants to join, with the additional option of activating an AI Voice Assistant to have Voicea's EVA take and share meeting notes.
