Statistics Canada said on Tuesday that the Canadian manufacturing sales dropped 1.3 percent to reach USD43.2 billion in July after a 1.4 percent decrease in June.
Sales dropped in 11 industries in July, making up 66.8 percent of the total sales of manufacturing, the drop in July was caused by less sales in the metal and motor vehicle industries.
Primary metal industry dropped 7.3 percent in July, all metal industries except for alumina and aluminum production and processing saw less sales.
Sales of iron and steel mills and ferro-alloy products dropped 14.8 percent because of lower quantities sold and maintenance shutdowns at some plants.
