UAE police warn of Dh1,000 traffic fine in new video

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Sharjah Police on Tuesday released a video of a driver failing to stop at a red light and nearly hitting another vehicle that had right of way.
The video shows a driver in a white sedan approaching a red traffic light at high speed without slowing down. The driver is also flashed by a radar at the intersection while it jumps the traffic light and is then forced to swerve to the left to avoid a car on its right -- a vehicle that had right of way.
The police warned that motorists will be fined Dh1,000 and get 12 traffic points on his/her licence for jumping a red light. Also, their vehicle will be impounded for 30 days.
Such a traffic violation endangers the lives of other motorists and pedestrians, the police warned.
