Sudan to ban raw materials exports

(MENAFN) Sudan was announced to be putting a stop to all "raw materials" exports in three months under an order Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok delivered.

Ministry of Commerce and Industry imposed a three-month period for producers and manufacturers to get ready for executing the order.

Such a move is considered by experts as "risky" since Sudan is still suffering from bad industry environment.

Prime Minister Hamdok stated "we want to take the Sudanese economy from an economy based on consumption and imports to a productive economy, and stop exporting products such as livestock and agriculture as raw material."

Hamdok further added "instead, we will aim to process them so as to create added value."
