(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, Sept 16 (KUNA) -- US President Donald Trump praised the "tremendous" relationship the US shares with Bahrain in many fields, saying "our relationship has never been stronger than it is right now".
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said "we have a tremendous relationship militarily, but we have also a tremendous economic relationship, trade, and we're going to be discussing all of those things".
He affirmed "our relationship has never been stronger than it is right now. And I think that is largely based on the relationship that we have".
"We'll certainly be discussing what took place over the last two days in Saudi Arabia," Trump said referring to the attack on the two oil facilities. "We will be discussing the Middle East," he added.
For his part, Bahrain's Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa told reporters "I'm here to convey the greetings of his Majesty (King Hamad Al-Khalifa) and the people of Bahrain to strengthen the relationship, which is based on shared values where they overlap and ideals".
He added "we primarily ... are going to focus on discussions related to security enhancement and trade enhancement".
He indicated "we signed today an agreement to purchase .... our first patriot missile battery systems, and it couldn't have come at a better time". (end)
