Customs office data showed on Monday that South Korea saw a trade surplus for the 91st month in a row in August in spite of the continued export drop.
According to the Korea Customs Service, the trade balance hit a surplus of USD1.7 billion in August, staying in the black for 91 straight months since 2012 February.
The exports decreased 13.8 percent to reside at USD44.1 billion in August, imports saw a fall of 4.2 percent to USD42.4 billion.
The outbound shipment continued to decrease for the ninth month in a row through August.
