Decline in S. Korean imports of Japan's beer

(MENAFN) Over the past month, South Korea registered a decline in its imports of beer from Japan amid tensions between the two sides with a campaign to boycott Japanese goods.

Value of Japanese beer imports were revealed on Monday to have dropped to stand at USD223,000 last month compared to the USD7,566,000 posted during the same period in 2018 and USD4,342,000 recorded a month earlier.

From January 2009 until this June, Japanese beer was placed at the top among imported beers, however, the rank was slashed to hit 13th last month due to tensions.

In July, Japan slammed tougher rules on its exports to South Korea and last month Japan removed South Korea from its whitelist of trusted partners in trade.
