Jordan- FM meets Arab, Muslim counterparts

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Jeddah, Sept. 15 (Petra) -- Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi met on Sunday with a number of Arab and Muslim foreign ministers on the sidelines of an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) called for by Saudi Arabia after the Israeli prime minister announced that he will annex Palestinian territory in the West Bank and place the Palestinian part of the Jordan Valley and northern Dead Sea under Israeli sovereignty.
Safadi held a meeting with his Saudi counterpart Ibrahim Al-Assaf, during which they voiced rejection and condemnation of the Israeli declaration, stressing that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on pre-June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem is the only way to achieve comprehensive peace.
Safadi renewed Jordan's condemnation of the cowardly terrorist attack that targeted two Aramco oil facilities, stressing that the Kingdom will always stand by Saudi Arabia to defend its security, as His Majesty King Abdullah II affirmed in a phone call with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques yesterday.
Separately, Safadi and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu stressed in a meeting the need to maintain coordination to counter the Israeli declaration and all other Israeli attempts aimed at establishing the occupation. The two ministers stressed the need for the international community to assume its full responsibility to reject the Israeli declaration and prevent its implementation.
The foreign minister also met with his Palestinian counterpart Riyad al-Maliki to coordinate Jordanian-Palestinian efforts to ensure a firm international position condemning the Israeli declaration and preventing its implementation.
