KABUL: Pakistan summoned Afghanistan's Charge d' Affaires in
Islamabad on Saturday to protest against killing of three Pakistani soldiers,
while one more seriously injured near Durand Line.
'A strong demarche was made over the latest incident of
firing on a Pakistan military contingent engaged in completion of fencing of
Pakistan-Afghanistan border' Pakistan's foreign ministry said in a statement.
While strongly condemning the attack, it was underscored
that the Afghan side was responsible for securing the areas on its side of the
border, as mutually agreed on several occasions, the statement added.
Pakistan once again called upon the Afghan government to do
the needful to secure the border areas, especially along the sensitive points,
to maintain the level of cooperation needed to effectively counterterrorist
elements in their areas, the statement concluded.
Moreover, Pakistan also summoned an Indian diplomat on
Saturday after it announced firing by Indian forces across the Line of Control
(LoC) in the disputed territory of Kashmir killed a 40-year-old woman from the
village of Balakot, media reported
The latest incidents come at an especially tense time
between Pakistan and India, and as talks between the United States and the
Afghan Taliban have broken down.
