Sri Lanka- Shantha Bandara's name gazetted to fill vacant Parliament seat

(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) member Shantha Bandara's name has been gazetted to fill the vacant UPFA National List MP seat in Parliament.

The General Secretary of the UPFA Mahinda Amaraweera had last week informed the Elections Commission that Shantha Bandara's name has been nominated to fill the vacant UPFA National List MP seat in Parliament.

The seat was left vacant after Bandara resigned last month as UPFA National List MP in order to fill the seat left vacant following the death of MP Salinda Dissanayake.

However the District Returning Officer of Kurunegala had gazetted the name of UPFA member H. M. D. B. Herath to fill the vacant seat.

As a result Shantha Bandara is to return to Parliament as a UPFA National List MP.
