Indonesia seeks to increase commercial ties with Jordan, Palestine — envoy

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN — Indonesian Ambassador to Jordan Andy Rachmianto on Thursday called for increasing commercial, economic and investment cooperation between Indonesia, Jordan and Palestine.

During a meeting with more than 150 businesspeople from Jordan and Palestine, Rachmianto said that despite the fact that economic cooperation was positive over the past two years, there is still a need for more efforts to boost this cooperation during the coming years.

The meeting was part of a ceremony organised by the Indonesian embassy in Amman to shed light on the 34th commercial exhibition in Indonesia, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Friday.

The ambassador invited Jordanian and Palestinian businesspeople to attend the exhibition scheduled to be held between October 16 and 20, noting that last year's edition of the fair was attended by 45 businesspeople from Jordan and five from Palestine, who, combined, made deals worth $30 million.

The diplomat also reviewed the economic conditions and investment opportunities in his country, noting that Indonesia is a member of the G20 and has achieved a fixed growth rate for gross domestic product at more than 5 per cent.

For their part, the attending businesspeople expressed their keenness and interest in exploring commercial opportunities in Indonesia and starting cooperation and investments, and willingness to benefit from facilities provided by Indonesia in this regard.
