(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) Dhaka: The national carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines is going to receive the 4th and last Boeing 787 Dreamliner named Rajhangsha on September 14, instead of previously announced, September 12.
It is said to reach Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 3:45 pm. The latest Dreamliner will be welcomed at the Dhaka airport with a water canon salute.
The new Dreamliner equipped with ultramodern technology will land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the afternoon. With the induction of the new Dreamliner, the number of aircraft in Biman's fleet will reach 16.
A team of Biman's representatives have reached the Delivery and Operations Center of Boeing at Everett, Seattle to bring the aircraft in Bangladesh.
Biman signed a contract with the American aircraft manufacturing company Boeing back in 2008 to purchase 10 new aircraft. Already 4 Boeing 777-300 ER, 2 Boeing 737-800 and 3 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft have been inducted to Biman's fleet.
All the Dreamliners Akashbina, Hangshabalaka, Gaangchil and Rajhangsha have been named by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina herself.
Rajhangsha has 271 seat capacity, 24 in Business Class and 247 in Economy. The Business Class seats features 180 degree reclined facility and fully flatbeds.
Following the expansion of fleet, Biman is going to launch operations on new routes, Dhaka-Medina from October 28 and Dhaka-Guangzhou from November. Also, the airline is planning to launch flights to Manchester, Colombo, Male, Tokyo and New York.
As part of expansion, Biman has bought three new Dash 8-Q400s from Canadian Commercial Company. These will be inducted to Biman's fleet by March or June next year.
