Afghanistan- Govt Asked to Arrest, Punish Army Officer's Killers


(MENAFN- Daily Outlook Afghanistan) KABUL - Tribal elders from central Miadan Wardak province asked thegovernment to arrest and punish the killers of an Afghan National Armysergeant Syed Mohammad Noor who waskilled in Kabul allegedly by supportersof Ahmad Shah Massoud.
Ministry of Defense spokesman Roohullan Ahmdzai told reporters that thearmy officer was killed as a result of firing by Ahmad Shah Massoud supportersand a number of illegal gunmen had been arrested in connection with theincident.
The Ministry of Interior says two people, including the army officer, werekilled and two more injured in firing by supporters of Ahmad Shah Massoud whilemarking the national hero's death anniversary in Kabul.
Today, acting Interior Minister Massoud Andarabi, Kabul police chief Brig.Gen. Syed Mohammad Roshandil and the Kabul intelligence chief visited thefamily of the slain army officer and met with local tribal elders.
The elders of Maidan Wardak province urged the security officials to arrestthe killers of the army officer and punish them according to the law.
Tribal elder Syed Rahim Sattar told the acting interior minister: 'We havedecided not to burry the deceased until the president meets them and thekillers are punished.
State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Farooq Wardak, Wolesi Jirgamember from Kabul Haji Khan Mohammad Wardak asked the interior minister toensure no such incident happen next time.
Andarabi said they visited the martyr's family on the directives of thepresident and the killers would be arrested and punished. (Pajhwok)
