Jordan- Interior minister, German envoy discuss cooperation prospects

(MENAFN - Jordan News Agency) Amman, Sept. 11 (Petra)-Minister of Interior Salameh Hammad discussedon Wednesday with German Ambassador to Jordan, Birgitta Siefker-Eberle, ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, especially in the political, economic and security fields.
During the meeting, Hammad said the bilateral relations are "deep-rooted" and "longstanding" thanks to the support of the two countries' leaderships, especially in the security fields, which are the basis for any nation's stability seeking to achieve progress and prosperity.
Hammad reviewed the developments and challenges that the Kingdom is facing, most of which are triggered by the region's instability and its repercussions on the overall economic and security situation in the Kingdom.
Continuing:" Throughout it history, Jordan has faced many waves of forced refugee on its territory from several countries such as Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, Libya and Syria, which led to negative repercussions affecting most of its vital sectors and services, especially water resources, energy, education, health, and security."
The minister added the Hashemite leadership believes above all of the need to provide humanitarian assistance to those who need it.
Moreover, he praised Germany's support to Jordan in the fields of humanitarian work and development, pointing to the importance of continuing assistance to help the Kingdom deal with the repercussions of the refugee crisis.
For her part, the German envoy expressed her country's understanding of Jordan's need for more assistance to enable it to address repercussions of the Syrian crisis that affected all its vital sectors.
She pointed to the need to activate the level of bilateral cooperation, especially in the security fields.
