Maldives Foreign Minister to undertake official visit to China


(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) Maldives Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid will undertake an official visit to China from 19th-20th September 2019, the Maldives Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

The Foreign Ministry said that at the invitation of Wang Yi, State Councillor and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, the Maldives Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid will undertake an official visit to China, the first visit of Minister Shahid to China since he assumed office.

During this visit, Minister Shahid will pay a Courtesy Call on Wang Qishan, Vice President of the People's Republic of China and hold bilateral talks with his counterpart, Wang Yi, State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China.

The Ministers will review the gamut of bilateral relations between the two countries as well as discuss ways of further strengthening the historic and close ties that exist between the Maldives and China.

Maldives says China remains an important partner in the development of Maldives. The Government of Maldives reiterated its firm and unwavering commitment to its long-standing One China Policy and its support as a partner in the Belt and Road Initiative.
