Trump: Peace talks with Taliban "are dead

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Washington, Sept. 10 (Petra) - United States President Donald Trump declared Monday night that talks of a cease-fire in the almost 18-year-old war between the US and the Taliban "are dead".
After canceling a secret Camp David meeting with Taliban leaders on Sunday, Trump indicated he had no further interest in negotiation to end the Afghanistan war, a statement by the White House said.
"We've hit the Taliban harder in the last four days that they've been hit in over 10 years," Trump tweeted on Monday.
The US president reiterated earlier statements that he cancelled the secret talks after the Taliban carried out a recent car bombing in Kabul on Thursday that killed 11 people, including a U.S. soldier.
