Fever claims 7 lives in Nigeria

Nigerian local health official said on Friday that 7 people died after an outbreak of yellow fever in the northeast region of Nigeria.

Bauchi and Borno states were affected by the fever which was discovered by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on August 29.

The head of the NCDC, Chikwe Ihekweazu, said that first confirmed case of yellow fever in Bauchi was a patient who visited the Yankari Game Reserve in the state the previous month with his father.

The boy was treated succefuly but the father died suffering from similar symptoms.
