Power station works in Iraq to wrap up by 2020


(MENAFN) Works of a power plant within Salahuddin province in central Iraq are expected to wrap up by 2020, to present a capacity of 1,260 megawatt (MW).

China Machinery Engineering Corp. is constructing the anticipated power station, with 80 percent of the works already complete.

Iraqi manager of the project Basim al-Bazi confirmed that the plant will be covering two production units that offer 630 MW each.

According to the project manager, as much as 1,200 Chinese engineers and workers are cooperating with their Iraqi counterparts.

Iraq's Ministry of Electricity signed an agreement valued at USD1.2 billion with China Machinery Engineering Corp. for the construction of the project.
