Pakistan- JUI-F workers boycott polio drive in tribal districts




(MENAFN - Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islami-Fazal (JUI-F) announced to boycott polio drive in Tribal districts until government conduct tests of the drops in laboratories in Pakistan and share findings with the public to remove their grievances.

Qadri Jihad Shah, Information Secretary of the JUI-F in tribal districts said that national polio eradication program, under the religious and political leadership, must conduct tests of polio drops and shares findings with the general public.


He expressed the need that such experiments will be very helpful to clarify the drops to the public who are currently in continuous suspicious about it. The JUI-F leader warned that the protest will continue till the reservation of his party and the general public are not removed by the government.

He requested the public to help his party in polio boycott to press the government for their demand. The JUIF, tribal districts, has announced the boycott at a time when that national polio eradication team has already stated three-day polio campaign just a day ahead when three more polio cases were reported from KP taking the total number of polio cases in the country to 58 out of which 48 are from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

The Health Department has said that more than four million children below the age of five will be administered anti-polio drops during the campaign as a three-day anti-polio campaign kicked off in 29 districts of the province.

More than twenty-seven thousand teams have been constituted which will visit door-to-door to ensure that anti-polio drops are administered to each and every child. Polio teams will also be available at bus stops, railway stations and other public places to administer the anti-polio vaccine.

Strict security measures have been taken for the security of polio teams. The National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) on Polio last week confirmed five new polio cases across the country, including three from KP.
