0.7 percent fall in Brunei's consumer price index


(MENAFN) Brunei registered a 0.7 percent decline in its total Consumer Price Index (CPI) during the sixth month of this year compared to the same period in 2018.

In June, Brunei's price index for food and non-alcoholic beverages recorded a 0.5 percent drop while non-food items fell 0.7 percent on annual basis.

Statistics further unveiled that the Goods index plunged by 1.6 percent while the Services index posted a 0.6 percent boost.

This decline was explained to be driven by a 4.0 percent drop in the prices and costs of Transport as well as a 2.6 percent decrease in Clothing and Footwear and a 2.0 percent fall in Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels.
