(MENAFN) So far, 1,965 people lost their lives in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) over the Ebola epidemic, as revealed the World Health Organization (WHO).
Over the last ten weeks, DR Congo is suffering from Ebola virus outbreak at "substantial but stable transmission intensity," WHO stressed.
Around 80 Ebola cases were recently discovered and observed, as unveiled Executive Director of the WHO Health Emergencies Program, Dr. Mike Ryan.
Ryan noted that "cases over the last two to three weeks have started to reduce. And we hope this trend will continue."
He added: "we believe we're making progress in some areas. We believe that we have the vaccines and the effective therapeutics now that can really change the direction of this outbreak."
