(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Aug. 25 (Petra)- A total of 220 Palestinian children are detained in Israeli prisons and deprived access to the new school year, which opened Sunday in all West Bank and Gaza Strip governorates, according to the director of Centre for Prisoners' Studies Raafat Hamdona released on Sunday.
On Israel's abusive practices, the statement touched on the detainees cruel treatment, which violates all international norms and conventions that guarantee the protection of these minors, urging to ensure their physical, psychological and educational rights.
The statement urged children's rights organizations to follow up on the situation of underage detainees in Israeli prisons, and to force the Israeli authorities to let them join their schools, calling on holding Tel Aviv to account for its crimes.
