(MENAFN) Provincial police spokesman Abdul Shaeq Shurash said on Saturday that, unidentified armed men gun downed a senior police officer in the eastern Kapisa province on Friday.
Shurash said that, Ahmad Zia Zia who had served as the in-charge of arresting criminals in the neighboring Parwan region was gunned down by unidentified armed men close to his residence in Kapisa on Friday evening.
The official didn't rule out the connection of the armed Taliban fighters in the assassination, saying two people have been detained and investigation is underway to crackdown those behind the murder.
