Ship fire leads to 4 deaths in Indonesia

Indonesian officials said on Friday evening that 4 people died and 19 others remain missing as a ship caught fire in the east Jave province waters in Indonesia.

Provincial search and rescue office said that the ship is called "KM Santika Nusantara" and it caught fire as it was traveling through the sea of Maselembu in Sumenep region on Thursday night and the fire had not been extinguished.

Abd. Rahman Riyadi, head of the disaster management agency in the district, said that "Three bodies have been removed to a health clinic and another body is transporting ashore. The four bodies are parts of the 23 missing persons. So now, the missing persons decreased to 19".

He said that around 80 to 90 survivors were rescued off the ship.
