Kabul Says Ready for Direct Talks with Taliban

(MENAFN - Daily Outlook Afghanistan) KABUL- The Afghan government on Thursday showed its readiness for direct talks withTaliban insurgents, saying its negotiation team was final and looking forwardto further developments.
'TheIslamic Republic of Afghanistan is ready for direct negotiations with theTaliban. The negotiating team is final and we are looking forward to furtherdevelopments at this stage, Presidential spokesman SediqSediqqi said in atweet.
'Thenegotiating team is comprehensive and we consulted various parties on eachstage of the peace process. The Islamic republic of Afghanistan is a people'srepresentative government, he said
'Webelieve in a peace that preserves the interests of the people and does not harmour republic, Sediqqi said.
Aboutinauguration of the Darulaman Palace as part of celebrations marking the 100thIndependence Day of Afghanistan, the presidential spokesman said it was a majornational event. 'All politicians andinfluential figures were invited to attend the inaugural ceremony.
Thespokesman called ISIS or Daesh 'a threat to the security and stability ofAfghanistan. '
'Inpartnership with our international partners, we are fighting ISIS and otherterrorist groups. We are working together with the United States and NATO toeliminate ISIS havens, he said. (Pajhwok)
