(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) Former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa today insisted that there is no barricade preventing him from contesting the upcoming Presidential elections.
Rajapaksa was speaking at a meeting held today with Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) local council members.
He said that he has already renounced his US citizenship and has obtained a Sri Lankan passport.
Rajapaksa claimed that false allegations are being made against him in an attempt to prevent him from contesting the Presidential elections.
However he said that there is no barricade preventing him from contesting the elections.
Gotabaya Rajapaksa has been named as the Presidential candidate of the SLPP. (Colombo Gazette)
