(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: Tribal Youth Movement, an organisation working for rights of youth of tribal districts, has taken strong exception to 'non-transparent' appointment procedure on vacant posts of radio producers in tribal districts.
In a statement, the Youth Movement said the process of appointment of radio producers in merged districts is non-transparent, as there was nepotism and favouritism in the process, and demanded the concerned authorities to take notice of the matter.
The Movement president Khial Zaman Orakzai, Secretary General Irshad, president female wing Naila Altaf and other office-holders said in the statement that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had sought applications for vacant post of radio producers though advertisements in newspapers. They said a large number of qualified and capable tribal youth applied for the jobs. However, they said the candidates of other districts were given preference over local candidates, which is unjust.
The Movement leaders said it was clearly mentioned in the advertisement that candidates hailing from tribal districts will be given preference while filling the vacant posts. However, they said, no candidate from tribal areas could find place in the top-10 candidates called for interview. He said this discriminatory attitude of the recruiters has left the tribal youth fuming and they are extremely concerned over it. They made it clear that they won't let the government get away with this practice of ignoring the talented tribal youth for local jobs and preferring blue-eyed candidates.
The Tribal Youth Movement demanded the government to cancel all the interviews and again publish advertisement for filling the vacant posts of radio producers in newspapers. It said only the candidates from tribal districts must be appointed on local posts.
The Movement leaders said if KP Chief Minister Mehmood Khan and CM's Adviser on Tribal Affairs Ajmal Wazir did not take notice of the matter, then they will stage protest outside the Chief Minister House. They said they will also use the option of taking the issue to courts to get justice for the tribal youth.
Appointment of non-local candidates on vacant posts in tribal districts often draws criticism from people in merged districts as they believe that tribal candidates have first right on local jobs.
