1.5 percent FDI jump in Mexico


(MENAFN) Mexico registered from January to June 2019 a boost by 1.5 percent in its Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) at USD18.1 billion.

A Ministry of Economy statement affirmed that "the increase concentrated in the reinvestment and new investment areas, although subsequent figures adjustment could alter the result."

Manufacturing industry in Mexico accounted for 42.8 percent of the FDI while commerce amounted for 12.9 percent and financial and insurance services for 9.9 percent.

In the statement, the ministry further added that the majority of the FDI was generated from North America and Europe.

Spain contributing with 11.1 percent of the FDI, the U.S. added 37.9 percent, Canada made up for 15.4 percent, Germany accounted for 6.5 percent while Belgium injected 4.1 percent.
