São Paulo – Brazil's minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, Tereza Cristina, will lecture on The Importance of Arab Countries to Brazilian Agriculture, next Monday (26), from 9 am to 11 am, at the auditorium of theArab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce , in São Paulo.
'We are honored to welcome minister Tereza Cristina at the Arab Chamber, marking the continuation of tandem work that will tend to yield many fruits. It will also be a great opportunity for members and companies to get facetime with the minister, where they'll be able to clear up doubts in order to streamline solutions and facilitate deals,' said Chamber president Rubens Hannun.
Cristina will travel to Arab countries next September. Although the schedule isn't defined yet, she will likely visit Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt and Kuwait. She intends to look into introducing new items in Arab markets, like dairy and fruits, and to discuss poultry exports to Saudi Arabia. She spoke on this in anexclusive interview with ANBA .
Arab countries are the premier destination for Brazilian animal protein – beef and poultry – and the second biggest destination for Brazilian agricultural products. From 2008 to 2019, agribusiness went from 60% to 75% of total exports from Brazil to Arab countries.
Customarily, the best-selling items from Brazil to Arab countries are poultry and beef, sugar, cereals, oilseeds and coffee. From 2009 through 2018, Brazilian agribusiness sales to those countries increased by 2.3% on average per year. In 2018, these exports fetched USD 8.12 billion.
Arab countries took in some 10% of total exports from Brazil in 2018, trailing only China. Arab countries import over half of their food needs, and they rank among the biggest importers of agribusiness products in the world.
