Newly appointed French ambassador presents copies of credentials to Zerkal


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Newly appointed Ambassador of France to Ukraine Etienne de Poncins has presented the copies of his credentials to Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Olena Zerkal.

"France gives great attention to cooperation with Ukraine," the ambassador said, the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine reports.

The French diplomat highlighted the unwavering stance of Paris on support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.

Olena Zerkal noted France's special role as a member of the Normandy format in resolving the conflict in Donbas, caused by Russian aggression. Further cooperation within the format was discussed. The Ukrainian deputy foreign minister also thanked the ambassador for the French support for Ukraine's position on ensuring the freedom of navigation in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov Sea area.

Concrete measures to deepen political dialogue, as well as to intensify economic and investment cooperation were also touched upon.

Ambassador Etienne de Poncins reaffirmed the readiness of France as the country holding the G7 presidency to continue providing support and practical assistance in implementing reforms in Ukraine.

Etienne de Poncins was appointed as the Ambassador of France to Ukraine by the decree of Emmanuel Macron on July 24. Earlier, he served as the inspector of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France, the member of the European External Action Service, the French ambassador to Kenya and the ambassador to Bulgaria.
