(MENAFN - Pajhwok Afghan News) SHARAN (Pajhwok): Local residents and government officials on Monday marked the 100th anniversary of the country's Independence in southeastern Paktika province with national zeal and enthusiasm.
The main gathering was orgnaised in the football stadium in Sharan, the provincial capital, in which gusts talked about the regaining the country's independence from British under the leadership of King Amanullah Khan.
Governor Mujiburrahman Chamkani talked about different aspects of Amanullah Khan's courage termed him as hero of independence.
Tribal elder Wakel Kahan Badsha and Provincial Council Member Afsar Khan said the Afghans always gained independence but failed to maintain it.
Massive gatherings and celebration held in the Urgun and Khairkot districts. Residents conferred flowers on the security personnel to hail their sacrifice and services.
It was the first time that huge arrangements had been made to mark the 100th independence day of theAfghanistan .
