Turkish forces destroy terror PKK terror positions in N. Syria

(MENAFN) On Monday, Turkey's Defense Ministry stated that Turkish Armed Forces completely damaged PKK terror positions in northwestern Syria.

The ministry emphasized in a Twitter post that the raid came in response to the attacks and harassment fire of the PKK/YPG on Turkish army elements on the area of the Operation Euphrates Shield.

Since 2016, Turkey has carried out two main military raids in northwestern Syria - Operations Euphrates Shield and Olive Branch - to purge the region of terrorist organizations Daesh and the YPG, which is the Syrian branch of the terrorist organization PKK.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK - considered as a terrorist group by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU - has been responsible for the deaths of approximately 40,000 people, including many women, children and infants.
