Philippine Foreign Secretary Receives Saudi Shura Council Speaker


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Manila, August 19, 2019, SPA -- Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines Teodoro Locsin Jr. received here today Speaker of Saudi Shura Council Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh as part of his official visit to the Philippines.
During the meeting, Philippine Foreign Secretary praised deep-rooted relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Philippines, commending distinguished levels reached by bilateral relations in various fields, pointing out that Saudi Arabia's active contribution to the reconstruction of the Philippine city of Marawi confirms its keenness to strengthen and develop existing relations.
He also thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for hosting about one million Philippine workers, calling for increasing the number of flights to enhance relations between the two countries and the two friendly peoples.
For his part, Speaker of Saudi Shura Council expressed his appreciation to the Philippine Foreign Secretary for the warm reception and generous hospitality, stressing strong relations between the Kingdom and Philippines, pointing out that these relations are deep-rooted and based on cooperation and exchange of interests.
He also commended the efficiency of Philippine specialized laborers working in the Kingdom, stressing that they contributed to development aspects being witnessed in the Kingdom, which have been reflected on the level of relations between the two countries. He pointed out that the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia attaches special attention to Filipino workers and other workers from other nationalities, based on human values derived from Islam.
