9 activists arrested in Uganda

Ugandan security forces apprehended 9 Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) activists on Lake Albert that is shared by the 2 countries, according to Xinhua.

Resident District Commissioner for Pakwach, Shuaib Toko, said that the activists who were apprehended on Saturday had guns and army uniforms.

He said that "The militias have been harassing our fishermen on Lake Albert for long. They claim the lake belongs to them, which is not the case".

He as well added that the activists captured boat engines and fishing nets from the Ugandan fishermen then demanded for ransom of around USD200 per person.
