Turkey arrests 418, dismissed 3 mayors suspected in terrorism

Three mayors of the opposition People's Democratic Party in eastern and southeastern Turkey have been dismissed of Turkey's Interior Ministry on Monday over suspected links to terrorism.

The ministry also said that 418 people have also been arrested in 29 districts in an investigation on suspects with links to Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

The mayors of Van, Diyarbakir, and Mardin districts namely Bedia Ozgokce Ertan, Adnan Selcuk Mizrakli and Ahmet Turk were dismissed and replaced by state-appointed governors.

The opposition HDP is accused of having links to the PKK by the Turkish government, a group which is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkish government, the United States and the EU.
