(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has been working on an experimental project with a Japanese company, to paint the Abdullah Bin Jassim Street near Souq Waqif in Doha in blue to reduce the temperature of the asphalt by around 15 - 20C, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported Friday.
Engineer Saad al-Dosari tweeted that the temperature of the black asphalt is 20C higher than the actual temperature as black colour absorbs and radiates heat.
In addition, the blue colour of the street is pleasing to the eye.
The official added that the street and the experiment will be under evaluation for 18 months.
