Taliban attack kills 5 soldiers in Afghanistan


(MENAFN) A local official declared that over five Afghan troopers have died as six more were injured after Taliban militants stormed an army camp in Maywand district of southern Kandahar province.

A local official unveiled that "Afghan National Army personnel repelled Taliban militants armed with guns and rocket propelled grenades after the militants stormed the camp outside the district center overnight."

He added that the militant suffered causalities as well in the clashes, however, their number could not be clarified as the militants cleared out their fatalities after the battle.

Further information regarding the gunfight would be released later, according to Mohammad Yahya, a spokesman of army Corps 205 Attal based in southern region.
