Oman Air winds up its operations from Bangladesh

(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) DHAKA: Oman Air, national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman is winding up its operations to Bangladesh with the departure of its last flight from Chittagong WY 312 on October 30. The Airline currently serves the port city with daily flights using Boeing 737- 800.
Earlier, Oman Air suspended their flight operations to Dhaka, end of June this year, which they launched on October 16, 2015.
With the departure of Oman Air, number of foreign Airlines operations to Chittagong scales down to two only – Fly Dubai and Air Arabia. The continued fall in Airline fares (yields) last several months worldwide, resulted in reducing existing frequencies, capacities and slashing non profitable routes by some of the Airlines in the Middle East.
The decision for closing Oman Air operations to Bangladesh is taken mainly on commercial considerations, though the cabin factor was quite satisfactory all through says one of the sources, close to the Airline.
