Jordan- AIPU chief censures Israel

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, July 23 (Petra) -- The Head of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU), Atef Tarawneh, condemned the Israeli occupation's crimes against Palestinians, most recently the demolition of their homes in Sur Baher.
In statement released by the AIPU on Tuesday, Tarawneh, who is also Speaker of Jordan's Lower House of Parliament, said the Israelis' guises and pretexts to justify the barbaric act of leveling houses are void.
On behalf of the union, he called on the United Nations Security Council to shoulder its responsibilities and take immediate action to curb Israeli intransigence, and put an immediate end to the crimes of demolition and forced removal.
Tarawneh called on the international community and international parliamentary unions to stop the demolitions and crimes of ethnic cleansing that violate the values of humanity and civilization of the people of a holy land.
He underscored the AIPU's support for the Palestinian people to consolidate its national unity, and strengthen its internal front in the face of threats to the cause.
