(MENAFN) Iraq reviewed with the UK tensions and concerns the Middle East is currently experiencing, Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi's media office announced.
On Monday, a phone conversation was held between the Iraqi prime minister and British Defense Secretary Penny Mordaunt.
According to the prime minister's office, the two officials "confirmed the necessity of achieving security and stability in the Gulf region and the Middle East, as well as freedom of (maritime) navigation for all countries (in the Gulf waters) and respecting international law."
Both sides, the statement added, also held talks regarding the regional security situation along with exploring ways to bring calm to the region.
