Tokyo shares decrease in morning


(MENAFN) Tokyo shares lost ground on Monday morning, following losses on Wall Street late last week as predictions the Federal Reserve will considerably cut its interest rate this month receded.


The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average decreased 59.68 points, or 0.28 percent, from Friday to 21,407.31.


The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, in the meantime, missed 5.47 points, or 0.35 percent, at 1,558.49.

Food, precision instrument, and pharmaceutical-linked issues involved those that declined the most by the morning break.
