Oman- Prices of 16 pharma products cut MoH urges customers to check for disparities

The prices of 16 pharmaceutical products have been reduced. The approval was given at the Technical Committee of Pharmaceutical Companies periodic meeting recently. Dr Mohammed Hamdan al Rubaie, director general (DG) of Pharmaceutical Affairs and Control,  chaired the meeting where discussions were also held on registration of drug companies. 

Following discussions, 29 applications for pharmaceutical companies registration and their production lines, six applications for new registration and 23 applications for renewal of company registrations were approved. Approvals were also given for, applications of registration and pricing of 22 pharmaceutical products in accordance with the adopted procedures, re-registering 47 products by adopting the same current prices, which had been adopted when applying the GCC unified purchase.

Customers urged to verify medicine prices

The DGPA & C points out that all citizens and residents have the right to confirm the ratified price by comparing the price on the drug bottle with the price list available at pharmacies. 'If any disparity is spotted, inform the Ministry of Health call centre and the DG will take the necessary action.' The prices of medicines in all the sultanate's governorates are unified according to the list distributed to all pharmacies, which are updated from time to time based on changes occurred in this regard.

The Technical Committee of Pharmaceutical Companies was formed by a Ministerial Decision No 201/2017.
