India in touch with Iran over detained oil tanker


(MENAFN) A government spokesman in New Delhi on Saturday that, the Indian government is connected with the Iranian government about the detention of Indian crew members beside the oil tanker Stena Impero, which is said to be in custody of Iran.


The oil tanker, said to be British, was allegedly seized by Iran on Friday in the Strait of Hormuz while passing through the strait.


Spokesman of Ministry of External Affairs Raveesh Kumar said that, they were discovering more details on the incident he also said that there mission was in touch with the Government of Iran to secure the release and repatriation of Indian nationals.


There are 18 Indians out of the total 23 crew members onboard the seized tanker, was said by official sources in India's External Affairs Ministry.
