(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) The former Chairman of Rakna Lanka, Victor Samaraweera, who was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and remanded till today, was ordered to be further remanded till 2nd August.
He was arrested over allegations linked to the Avant-Garde case.
The Attorney General's Department had recently issued a directive to the Acting Inspector General of Police C.D. Wickremaratne to arrest the suspects linked to the Avant-Garde case.
The suspects were accused of illegally operating ships carrying firearms and explosives when the former Government was in office.
