Egypt, Algeria call for de-escalation in Libya




(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, July 18 (KUNA) -- Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi and Algerian President Abdelkader Bensalah have underlined the need for reducing tension in Libya and resloving its conflict through political means without foreign inerferences.
The call was made by Egyptian leader and visiting Algerian counterpart in a meeting held in Cairo Thursday, Egypt's Presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady said in a statement.
Rady added that both presidents expressed satisfaction at the current level of coordination between both countries on the Libyan issue, especially through the tripartite mechanism that brought together Egypt, Algeria, and Tunisia.
Bensalah had arrived earlier today in Cairo to attend the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations final between Algeria and Senegal on Friday at the Cairo International Stadium. (end)
