Oman- Water on road, potholes near Ministry of Sports Affairs

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat -

A broken pipe on Way No 3318 near the Ministry of Sports Affairs traffic signal has resulted in water flowing out onto the road for the last two weeks.

The site has been barricaded off to prevent cars from driving over the pipe.

A resident in the area said, 'This is, in fact, the second time the pipe broke at this very place. In the first week of July, there was a major disruption when the pipe broke for the first time resulting in wastage of a lot of water.'

Besides the current situation resulting again in wastage of precious water, residents of Mumtaz Residence have to manoeuvre an inclined road that has several deep potholes, he added.

Another resident said that the steep road leading to his apartment complex has no barrier poles or walls to prevent cars and pedestrians from toppling over the edge.

A fleeting moment of carelessness on the part of a motorist driving up or down the twisty road can result in a fatal accident.

'The Way No 3318 has been in this state of disrepair for many years. It demands immediate attention before there is an untoward incident. We wish that the authorities will come up with a quick solution to avoid the dangers on this road,' he added.

A Muscat Municipality official said the civic body would look into the matter.
