(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MOSCOW, July 16 (KUNA) -- Kuwait has been renetlessly supporting the Palestinian cause, said the member of the Palestinian Resistance Movement (Hamas), Moussa Abu Marzouq Tuesday.
In a statement to KUNA, Abu Marzouq praised His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's role in supporting the Palestinians and defending their rights in various forums.
Abu Marzouq pointed to the positions taken by Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Marzouq Al-Ghanim in defense of Palestine in global parliamentary platforms.
He also highlighted the contribution of Kuwait to the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, praising the decision of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Education to hire Palestinians teachers to work in the education sector in Kuwait, stressing that should alleviate the unemployment crisis in Gaza Strip.
Abu Marzouq described the results of his talks with Russian officials as positive, saying that the Russian position has always been supportive of the Palestinian issue.
He called on Russia to adopt effective positions on the international scene by activating initiatives in favor of the Palestinians and to strengthen the international community's conviction that the Palestinian issue remains the main cause in the region.
Abu Marzouq urged the Russian side to provide substantial assistance to the Gaza Strip so that Moscow would have a significant influence on all sides concerned with the Palestinian issue on the one hand, and to counter the American directions in the region on the other.
Earlier, Abu Marzouq held talks with the Russian President's special envoy and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, during which they exchanged views on the need for Palestinian reconciliation and other issues. (end)
