(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Human rights commissioners of Russia and Ukraine intend to ask the presidents of the two countries, Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky, to pardon a number of convicts.
Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Liudmyla Denisova said this at a joint press conference with High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova on Tuesday, Interfax reports.
'We discussed that we would address the leaders of our countries with a request to examine some cases some of our citizens and the citizens of your country for pardoning them and taking some other steps so that they would be released, Denisova said.
Ukrainian human rights commissioner also reported that she had brought a list of 150 Ukrainian citizens who are held in Russia, including 24 Ukrainian sailors, to hand it over to the Russian counterpart.
Denisova stressed that she supported the proposal of Moskalkova on the need to provide medical assistance to detainees.
